The first cottage was built in 1955 by the original owner. As the family grew, he offered each of his children a piece of "Driftwood". As the family tree branched out, each family member created a home, their own private piece of paradise here.

Lake Travis History


Lake Travis was created in 1941 after the completion of Mansfield Dam. The lake was made to serve several purposes: for flood control, as a drinking water supply, and for outdoor recreation.

It is 64 miles long and covers 18,900 acres, with 270 miles of shoreline for you to explore.

Lake Travis is said to have the cleanest lake water in Texas. The level of the lake can vary, however Driftwood is located on a deep water portion of the main part of the lake.

Combined with its rolling wooded hills, Lake Travis provides the perfect setting for your vacation, whether you're looking for water recreation, hiking, sightseeing, or just relaxing!
